Even with all of this warmth and insulation, Arcteryx don't skimp on compressibility, and the Atom SV still packs small. There are even light tricot fleece underarm panels to aid breathability, and the Gossamer outer slips underneath a hardshell perfectly.
The Atom SV is truly a joy to wear. It is so light that you hardly notice it, which is perfect when climbing, and in cold days you will find it quickly becomes your second home.

Awesome!
I absolutely love this jacket. It is insanely warm for it's weight. Probably too warm in most cases to do any kind of exercise in the UK whilst wearing but perfect for when you stop. The build quality is extremely high. Worth every penny.

Versatile Insulation
This jacket is the most versatile outdoor garment I possess.
I have owned the Atom SV since early September 2012 and have used it constantly in both urban and wild environments. It kept me warm throughout the autumn months at work and having taken it to the Lake District in mid November I can testify to its usefulness in one of the wildest places in Britain.
The fit of the garment is just right for me. I am 187cm and 72 kilos and a medium size suits me beautifully including the sleeves, which don't ride up when I raise my arms. The warmth to weight ratio of the jacket is fantastic and the compressibility apart from being impressive has practical uses; the jacket can be compressed and rolled either into its own hood or sleeve depending on the shape you prefer and then used as a pillow. Although I had a hardshell in the Lake District to keep me dry I never need take one to work or in an urban environment as the outer layer is very water repellant. I have been caught out in a thick bout of rain and had the outer layer soaked through but the jacket retained its warmth nonetheless. It was very soggy afterwards but quick to dry.
The hood is roomy enough for a helmet but has a cinch to close out the space when needed (which is most of the time for me) and the waist cinches come in very handy as a lot of warmth can be trapped by using them. There is enough space underneath the garment for layering but it is built to easily take a softshell or hardshell over the top to provide more weatherproofing. With smart layering it is just the right weight to be used as my main insulation in all but summer when no insulation is needed, and the heart of winter when down is required.
If you only have one jacket make it this one!
