The La Sportiva Futura is a senstive and technical high-end rock shoe, agressivley down-turned making it perfect for steep technical climbing. The La Sportiva Futura is a senstive and technical high-end rock shoe, aggressively down-turned making it perfect for steep technical climbing. The Futura uses 'no edge' technology similar to that of the La Sportiva Speedster which gives you maximum sensitivity and feel between your foot and the rock. As in the illustrations below you can see that with the shape of the edge of the rubber, your foot is closer to the rock when you climb with a more uniform pressure coming from the toes for better grip and stability on footholds in a wide range of positions.
The Futura also utilises the P3 (Permanent Power Platform) system which retains the arched shape of the shoe climb after climb. Once you get used to the idea of a climbing shoe without an edge, you'll see that with the increased sensitivity and rock awareness, the Futura really excels on steep rock, and hard boulder problems.
Please note: As a rough guide, The La Sportiva Futura is similar in fit to the La Sportiva Solution
I bought La Sportiva Futura from you last November (2012) just after they came out. I promised I will drop you an email; how they perform at Qatar (Doha) and Middle East area.
So....they are BRILLIANT! I went through few pair of shoes (Five Ten Anasazi VCS, Scarpa Force, Andrea Boldrini Apache Light and La Sportiva Miura VS) and those are absolutely great. Miura are still my favourite one, but I think Futura will take their place.
Those shoes are very very sensitive. You can feel every piece of the rock and edge. The rounded edge works amazingly. Because the rounded edge, you could place, feel and stick to the smallest edge on the rock...it feels like climbing in a sock. Although I cannot compare them to La Sportiva Pythins or Speedsters, which are famous for being very soft shoes, Futura gives amazing sensitivity of the rock.
In comparison to Miura’s, they better perform on slabs and any rock which needs smearing. They stick to the rock like a chewing gum to the paving. Moreover, because they are very soft, I found out that with comparison to Miuras, which are much much harder and don’t want to bend as much, Futura almost lets you to "grab the tiny rock with your toes", Lol...don’t know how to explain this feeling, but feels great!
