The La Sportiva Xplorer is a lightweight approach shoe with a precise and ergonomic fit, made possible by a hidden drawstring system surrounding the boot. When you tighten the laces, they in turn pull the drawstring making the shoe hug your foot for an even better fit.

The mesh upper is very breathable, with a reinforced abrasion resistant mesh on the lower section surrounding the boot to protect it from scrapes and rock abuse. The toe is much like a climbing shoe, covered with rubber giving good friction when climbing and again offering protection to the toe area.

The midsole is made from a layer of EVA with an injected shock absorbing cushion at the heel for extra comfort and enhanced support to the ankle to avoid torsion of the foot. The Idrogrip Vibram sole contains different zones of grip with the climbing zone at the toe and lateral suction pads of various sizes and a shock absorbing cushion at the heel.

The La Sportiva Xplorer has toe-edge stiffness, but enough mid flex for comfy walking, so it is an excellent approach shoe, ideal for easy rock climbs, via ferrata and scrambles.
