The La Sportiva Futura is a senstive and technical high-end rock shoe, aggressively down-turned making it perfect for steep technical climbing. The Futura uses 'no edge' technology which gives you maximum sensitivity and feel between your foot and the rock. As in the illustrations below you can see that with the shape of the edge of the rubber, your foot is closer to the rock when you climb with a more uniform pressure coming from the toes for better grip and stability on footholds in a wide range of positions.

The Futura also utilises the P3 (Permanent Power Platform) system which retains the arched shape of the shoe climb after climb. Once you get used to the idea of a climbing shoe without an edge, you'll see that with the increased sensitivity and rock awareness, the Futura really excels on steep rock, and hard boulder problems.

I had previously seen the sportiva no edge technology and wanted to try out however I wasn't sure of spending over £100 on something I might not like. These futuras are at a great price and I must say I do love the no edge technology. The fit of the shoe is also great and have been wearing these alongside solutions whilst breaking them in. I'll definitely be using these more frequently.
This is my first time trying a La Sportiva Shoe with the no edge technology. I was slightly hesitant at first but they do actually work very well! I've been bouldering in them outside and indoors, and find the shoes work great on small, steep edges. The heel is also very solid when heel hooking.
